How To: The Perfect Cat Eye (My Way)

Hello, fashionistas! I'm sorry I've been off but the school schedule didn't allow me to post sooner because of the busy I was. Well, I wear a cat eye almost every single day either is more dramatic or more discreet, it is present. Furthermore being my signature makeup look and to the fact I cannot live without an eyeliner, I couldn't help noticing that a lot of women suffer when the time to apply the eyeliner comes because either they:
  • struggle to make it in one eye;
  • struggle to make them look the same in the other eye.

Well, as a lot of women, I've been through this as well and there's nothing that it cannot be fixed! Of course that maybe you'll need some practice and it will be easier to ones than to others but you will eventually make it. If you are a starter in this "eyeliner thing" I advise you to use an eyeliner pen since it is more handy and simple to use.

When you feel accustomed and comfortable with the pen, it if you want, you can "upgrade it" to a liquid one. Do it as you prefer since you practice till you get there! If you have almond shaped eyes (like me) it's easier to do and practically any type of eyeliner will suit to this eye shape (tip: use a white eye pencil to underline your bottom waterline to make your eyes look larger but do not push too much on the colour or else people will notice a white line in your eye that'll look very unnatural and, besides, you will not pull off the effect you want).
So let's get started!

You will need:

  • An eyeliner pen or a liquid eyeliner;
  • Your hands;
  • Patience! DO NOT do it if you're in a rush unless you are already used to!

Steps:

1.   Take the eyeliner and, patiently, make a line as close to the lashline as you can. Take your time! (Tip: Never make a cat eye with a black kajal unless your intentions are to blend it in for more of a smokey look. A lot of girls do it and it does not look good. Besides not giving you a polished look, in the end, it'll look messy with time and will start to vanish throughout the day looking like a black smudge in a bad way). After this concluded, draw, at the outer corner of your eye, sort of a "triangle" shape pointing out (of the size you want your cat eye to be).

2.  Then, fill in the shape you drew. Like so:

3.  In this step, thicken the line starting from the outer corner (the triangle) and work your way in, towards your inner corner. Make it be as thick as you want (and also remember to keep it proportional to the size of the triangle, it's the most important step. So if you wanted since the beginning a big cat eye, make sure to draw a big triangle at step 1).

4.   Done! If you made it too "out" and you didn't want it this way, (this is just a tip you can skip it if you feel like it's not needed) take a moist towel for makeup, stick your finger in it and work it on your outer corner to make it more "pointy" or correct any mistake. Finally, add some mascara to finish your look!

Et voilá! Enjoy.
