FOCUS POINTS OF S/S 2017 SEASON

S/S 2017 FASHION AGENDA
(FOCUS ON COLOR - emerald green - malachite green/ bright yellow/ fuchsia)

  • VELVET (e.g: Victoria Beckham - texturized shapes, transitional designs with heavy accessories);

  • SUEDE  (e.g: Marc Jacobs - deconstructed shapes, colored patches especially on head to toe suede);

  • Huge focus on FEMINISM in new brands and big established ones such as seen in Dior S/S 2017 show, ( “we should all be feminists” tee), Jonathan Simkhai’s (“FEMINIST AF”) and followed up by other brands such as Bella Freud. Together with this seasons' trends, we can put a highlight on slogan tees as the high trend point of at least this season. But seems like the trend is meant to stay and, again, proves its point in bold sentences and in both political and social affirmations.

  • DENIM (e.g: Stella McCartney - Still prevails the front “button-up” on skirts, shirts - especially on high-waisted items - and a repetition of patterns compared to last seasons. Still highlighting the same motifs like stars, dots, and playful animated designs ). The “twist” this year consists in a small adding of color having the designers preferred pastel shades, for a softer, more feminine look as seen in Marni);

  • ORIGAMI (seen with draping and used as an inspiration in bold jewelry as seen in Marni as well);

  • METALLIC FINNISH AS WELL AS SEQUINS AND LOADS OF SHIMMER;

  • SATIN (e.g: Valentino - always applied on feminine looks, which also defines the Maison, with bold colors or more discreet, delicate garments);

  • GLOSSY LEATHER (e.g: Bottega Veneta - A “new” trend for this season is high shine fabrics in PU coatings or liquid gloss. This one fits particularly well on jackets for a more “discreet” and lighter approach to the trend or, if looking for something bolder, we can always look up to as an inspiration the brightly colored pink pants on the latest Ellery fashion show);

  • LEATHER FRINGING (As seen in Hermés or Ralph Lauren);

  • ZODIAC REFERENCES AND PATTERNS (e.g: Gucci, Alexander McQueen, Preen and finally Dior, in homage to the latest Creative Director of the Fashion House by Maria Grazia Chiuri - current creative director of Dior);

  • STREETSTYLE TREND: Checkered Jackets.

  • VICTORIAN FEMININE PIECES (e.g: Ruffles, pastel colors, light layering, tassels and bows);

  • BABYDOLL STYLE (Femininity taken to it’s prime, in the most romantic and purest form, filled with ruffles, pink, flowy dresses and bows);

  • TROPICAL PATTERNS (Seen in a big variety of pieces from jackets to shoes and accessories);

  • EMBROIDERY (as seen in several brands, from high street stores such as Topshop, to high couture brands like Gucci. Seen everywhere from shirts to shoes, varying patterns from flowers to animals or little motifs and specially words or Asian designs);

  • ECLECTIC (Bright, shocking colors from head to toe);

  • PURIST (Monochromatic white or beige);

  • STRIPES;

  • FLORALS (Again but, with a touch of Kitsch);

  • MEN SHIRTS (with deconstructed shirting);
